BELONGING AND THE TRANSIENT HOME
Sunday 3 April, 2016
In our new re-incarnation as just the Artists Incubator, we will be working on our first project with the Vicseg Iranian Asylum Seekers Group in Broadmeadows, as the Broadmeadows Street Festival. We plan to broaden our approach by working with various communities across Melbourne.
Saturday 30 November, 2015
Our final event Gathering Glenroy was held on Saturday November 15 at the Wheatsheaf. The event was a day of art workshops, the exhibition of works and a dance performance. The event was targeted at local people living in Glenroy and bought together a diverse audience. The research team now plans to focus on their reflections of working with the local community and develop a publication to bring this information together.
ARTISTS RESIDENCY ENDS
Wednesday 30 September, 2015
The Artists Incubator residency came to an end this month, with the artists working towards the Gathering Glenroy event in late November, which will bring the group together in a series of workshops that will be free to the public at the Wheatsheaf Hub. At the event, artists will hold a series of art workshops and present some of the works they have developed during the residency. The artists have had a great challenging and interesting time developing their projects. For more information visit the Gathering Glenroy page on this site.
THE GREAT MOBILE EDIBLE GARDEN COMMUNITY RACE
Monday 10 March, 2015
The Artists Incubator will be taking part in the Glenroy Festival with The Great Mobile Edible Garden Community Race, to be held at 2-3:30pm on Sunday 22nd March, 2015. Using our six Mobile Edible Gardens, we plan to have 6 heats, followed by Finals at 3:15pm. The race was developed with Vicseg, as a fundraising event for their Glenroy Asylum Seeker Playgroup. Runners will be asked to contribute a gold coin donation, and donations will be sought from festival goers. The winners of heats and the final will be awarded plants to take home, donated from Scotsburn Nursery, our sponsor.
FIRST ARTISTS INCUBATORS MEETING
Friday 6 March, 2015
Today we held the first of our monthly Artists Incubator meetings. Today was primarily to meet each other and to hear about each other's interest. We had a lively discussion on the progress of projects still in development and it was also great to hear about what the new artists are interested in. We have decided our next meeting on March 27, 2015 will be Tammy's walking tour of Glenroy, which will be great fun and full of highlights about Glenroy. Claire will be out in the community at the St Francis De Salle Fete on Saturday March 21 and Tammy and Rowena are planning The Great Mobile Edible Garden Races for the Glenroy Festival on Sunday 22 March, 2015.
